ADULT: Wingspan 30mm to 35mm. The wings of this uncommon moth are apple-green with neat white chequered fringing. The forewings are enhanced by two white narrow fascia and a couple of buff and white blotches. BEHAVIOUR: The night-flying adults are attracted to later (primarily males) and can be disturbed from Oak leaves during the day. The Oak feeding larvae are known to cover themselves in leaf fragments to aid camouflage. Attracted to light. HABITAT: Deciduous woodland, parkland and occasionally gardens. FLIGHT PERIOD: June to July. STATUS: A local species found mainly in the southern half of the UK. |
